LeRoy Levi “Fizz” Beck died June 11, 2015 in Raymond, Wash. He was 90.
Borne Jan. 6, 1925 in Concrete, Wash., he joined the U.S. Army in 1943. He landed on Omaha Beach during the first wave of the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day and was later awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.
Fizz was a life member of Westport South Beach VFW Post #3057 and a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Twin Harbors, rising through the offices there and at the state governing level, as well, where he received special recognition for this dedication to Kiwanis principles and programs.
He lived in Grayland and crab fished out of Tokeland for 60 years.
He was married to Edna, who passed in 2013. He is survived by his children Grace, Pete, Mike, Glen, Kathy, Alvin, David, Elizabeth and John Patrick. His daughter Terry passed in January 2015.
Fizz also leaves behind 35 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
His second wife Lois passed in 2004.
A celebration of Fizz’s life will be held at 2 p.m. at the North Willapa Grange Hall on Saturday, July 18, with a potluck to follow.
