Summer is here, and our gardens are in full bloom. The scents of lilies, roses and lavender perfume the air, and a stroll through the garden is heavenly. The manicured lawns and expertly trimmed shrubs are perfection. Perennials and annuals snuggle together in beds of bright red bark that actually glows in the setting sun.
If this doesn’t describe your garden, you can still have the experience. You may not have the green thumb or energy to grow such a garden, but you can enjoy eight lovely and interesting gardens just the same. Join the Grays Harbor and Pacific County Master Gardeners July 16, for their 18th annual garden tour. The eight gardens in Aberdeen and Cosmopolis will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The garden owners will be on hand to talk about their gardens and Master Gardeners will be available to answer your questions.
This year’s gardens range from the large and extravagant to a cozy backyard retreat to the organic, sustainable and innovative. You can see, touch and smell all the wonders of a well-turned landscape and learn the secrets of the dedicated gardener.
Tickets
Tickets, which include directions to each garden, are $12 and can be purchased at Marshall’s Garden and Pet, Aberdeen; Harbor Drug and Gifts, Hoquiam; Valu Drug, Montesano; Elma Variety Store; Everybody’s Video and More, Raymond; Rose Cottage, Grayland and at Galway Bay Celtic Imports and Mermaid Cove, both in Ocean Shores.
